After the ‘Capture the Colour‘ photo competition, there is a brand new competition open for bloggers that I am excited to take part in. Southern Cross Travel Insurance have just started their ‘What does adventure mean to you?’ competition. They would like to know from bloggers what adventure means to them and all you need to do is post a photo collage on your blog that sums up the word βadventureβ in your life, along with a paragraph explaining what adventure means to youΒ (more info can be found here). The overall winner will receive $2,000AUD towards their adventures, but there are also plenty of other prizes up for grabs as well!
So what does adventure mean to me? You may have gathered by now that although I take part in plenty of adventurous things, my adventures are usually somewhat linked to mishaps. From getting Acute Mountain Sickness climbing Cotopaxi, to being attacked by vampire bats in the Amazon, to getting hypothermia hiking to Everest Base Camp, to being eaten a life by leeches in the Cambodian jungle – I could go on and on. However that doesn’t stop me from seeking out new adventures. Adventures are a big part of my life, otherwise where do you find the fun in life? So adventure means many different things to me, including:
I now get to ask two other adventurous bloggers what adventure means to them and I nominate Becki from Backpacker Becki and Ari from Beyond Blighty.
I’d also love to know what adventure means to my readers! So guys and gals, what do you think? Let me know in the comment section below.
Wow! What an awesome selection of experiences! I have no idea how you ate those spiders. You are a stronger, braver woman than I am!

Thank you! I still don’t know how I managed to eat those spiders either! But they weren’t too bad taste-wise actually. π
You’re one adventurous lady!!!! I’m not 1/10th as brave as you!!! I’m thinking about entering this comp but I don’t do much adventurous stuff these days.

Thanks Bethaney! I am sure there is still an adventurer in you somewhere! π
Great experiences, love the camel ride.

Thanks Rachel! Me too, even though I was quite sore after the 2 hr ride. π
Wow love your entry! The spiders scare me :S I’ll have to get someone to nominate me, although the most adventure I’m having at the moment is trying new street food haha!

Thanks Stacey! Yes, they scared me too. I was flapping my arms around like a little girl before I finally managed to eat the first leg. You don’t need to be nominated to take part. Anybody can enter the competition.
Those spiders, Tammy – absolutely not!! I had to hurry and scroll past them. Eating those is nothing short of an adventure.

They were quite disgusting to look at I have to admit. I am really scared of spiders, so it was a huge deal to me to even touch them, let alone eat them. Luckily my friend Pete from Hecktic Travels showed me how it is done and seen him doing it, made it a little bit less scary. π
Oh my god I could never eat those spiders!! haha You’re a very adventurous lady indeed! π You seem to have had an amazing array of adventures so far. Long may they continue and best of luck in the competition!

He he, they were quite disgusting actually. I hope I can have many more adventures too, but I’ll probably give tarantulas a miss in future.
That last photo is…just…wow. Love the angle and composition of it.

Thanks Ryan! I took it in Kathmandu. He looked so awesome that I had to take his picture.
I dont know what is more scary that tiny hole or eating spiders! That is above and beyond adventurous travel! Good luck with the competition, I have entered as well π

Ha ha, thanks Michelle. Once the lid was on that hole it was a bit freaky actually, as it was pitch black and I couldn’t see what was around me! Good luck with your entry!
Wow. That’s fun adventure right there!

I’ll match any adventure. Anywhere. Anytime. 44 years of documented adventure worldwide. However it must have elements of danger.
Good on you Hal. The more adventures I undertake the braver I get too, despite some things being dangerous. That`s the fun part, right?
Hermosas fotos de mi paΓs. Gracias chicos !!
Gracias Malena. Me alegro de que te gusten. π
