For long-term travels I usually travel with a 65l backpack and a 35l daypack. In my daypack, also known as my mobile office, I usually store my laptop, a book, a jacket, my DSLR camera, and other electronics and valuables, so I need a fair bit of space. However, on short sightseeing trips I always find that my daypack is far too bulky. As I only tend to take my camera and a bottle of water with me for sightseeing, I don’t really need a huge amount of space. So when I got the opportunity to review a fancy looking Lifeventure Ultralite Packable Daysack, I was curious whether this little daysack would solve all of my packing problems. Read on to find out.

Lifeventure ultralite packable daysack in wrappingThe Lifeventure daysack is an extremely light daysack that packs into its own integrated stuff sack. I personally find the stuff sack a tiny bit tight to easily squeeze the backpack back into, but with a bit of patience and the right technique it is perfectly manageable. The stuff sack is as small as my hand so it saves a huge amount of space when not in use. The daysack is made from siliconised Cordura fabric which repels moisture. I got caught in a downpour at a Christmas market in Dortmund, Germany at the end of last year, but because of the fabric none of my Christmas presents in the bag got wet. Phew.

Despite its tiny size this bag can actually be loaded to an astonishing 30kg, and the soft mesh shoulder straps are very comfortable. I have worn the daysack to various day trips to London, a visit to the Christmas market in Germany, and I now use it for all my other sightseeing trips, shopping stints or when I walk to work in my new home city of Accra, Ghana. In the past, when I wanted to go on a day trip or shopping, I’d have to completely empty my 35l daypack and repack my electronic items elsewhere. Now, I just pull out my hand-sized Lifeventure Ultralite Packable Daysack and leave my other items in my 35l daypack. The bag retails at £19.99, which is a really great price for such a versatile and practical travel accessory.
