The Eternal City of Rome is probably my favourite city in Europe, if not the entire world. Walking through the ancient streets feels like taking a trip back through time to some of the earliest moments of European civilisation. At the Colosseum, for example, you can’t help but imagine what it would have been like when thousands of Roman citizens crowded into the amphitheater to watch gladiators fight to the death in front of their mighty Emperor.

There is of course a more romantic side to Rome, with its cobbled streets, world-renowned galleries, and cosy restaurants. In fact, it’s hard to think of a more romantic city in the world. Below is a list of romantic hotels for a little inspiration when you’re planning your next trip to Rome:

Hotel Degli Aranci

Located in Parioli, this uber-romantic hotel lies within a mile of the Parioli Theatre. The Hotel Degli Aranci has it all, from a lovely little restaurant to a sauna, massage rooms, and jetted tubs in each room. It’s perfect for a romantic weekend getaway with your loved one.

JC Hotel Rome

The JC Hotel Rome has 12 individually designed rooms that all have an elegant, romantic style. It’s located near the Museum of Roman Civilization for those of you who might like to learn a little more about ancient Rome. The hotel has its own restaurant and coffee shop as well as a private yard where couples can spend romantic summer evenings together.

House in Rome Domus Romana

For those of you who find hotels too impersonal, maybe a townhouse located in the Vatican area is a better option. The House in Rome Domus Romana is within two miles of the St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Museums and is the perfect spot for some privacy on your romantic getaway.

Hotel Pulitzer Roma

The Hotel Pulitzer Roma offers sound-proof rooms with private yards, so it’s perfect for couples who really want to get away from noise and crowds. To top it off, this hotel has a lovely spa tub on site. All you need is a glass of champagne, some candles, and maybe some romantic Italian opera music for that perfect romantic night.

Villa Glori

This hotel is located in the city center, within one mile of the National Museum of the 21st Century and National Gallery of Modern Art. So if you’re an art lover, you couldn’t be closer to some of Rome’s finest museums. Villa Glori is a family-friendly hotel, so you can even come with your whole family.

Park Hotel Dei Massimi

The Park Hotel Dei Massimi has a lovely, romantic decor that will transport you back into a different century. The hotel is close to the Nature Reserve of Monte Mario and the Rome Observatory, so it’s the perfect place for a romantic stroll in a natural environment or a night spent gazing at the beautiful stars.

Which begs the question: Isn’t it time you took that special person in your life on a romantic trip to the Eternal City of Rome?
