Chris and I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Of those 10 years, we’ve spent five working and travelling around the world across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. This occasion got us thinking about our favourite destinations which suit couples of all ages, regardless of how long they have been together. Discover our top five favourite holiday destinations for couples (in no particular order).

The United States

The United States is a great holiday destination which caters to couples of almost any taste. For example, those who feel that something about a crisp, cold night can bring a couple closer to one another should consider New York as a great option for a long weekend of hand-holding, especially in the lead up to Christmas. For those more interested in sun, sea, and sand, Florida provides a great American alternative, with the tropical city of Miami being an especially popular option for those who enjoy a relaxing stay at a Floridian IHG hotel, bars, and beaches.

Romantic Paris

An all-time favourite destination for romantic couples from around the world, France — particularly Paris — is an obvious choice for anyone wishing to enjoy a romantic break. During your stay in Paris, whether it’s an evening cruise down the river Seine, a candlelit dinner at one of countless classy restaurants, or maybe a marriage proposal at the top of the Eiffel Tower, Paris is sure to help get those romantic feelings flowing.

Classical Italy

Couples visiting Italy will find themselves spoiled for choices when looking for a romantic city to spend time visiting. Whether it’s the maze-like streets and winding canals of Venice, the beautiful lakes and mountain scenery among the various lakes of the north, or the rich history and timeless romance of classical cities such as Rome and Florence, you’d need a heart of stone not to fall in love in, or in love with, the wonderful country that is Italy.

Pulsating Brazil

For those more into passion than traditional romance, a trip to Brazil is a great option. Rio de Janeiro is probably the first place people think of when they consider visiting Brazil, and, of course, the world-famous Rio Carnival is a great time to treat your partner to some samba and cocktails on the beach. A slightly less energetic experience could include taking in the Iguazu Falls, where the sheer power and force of nature provides an inspiring backdrop to a romantic stroll that’s hard to beat anywhere in the world.

Cambodian Islands

For couples who want to enjoy a slightly less well-trodden path, the many islands off the coast of Cambodia are a great place to get away from it all. Koh Rong, for example, is a beautiful island located a short boat trip from the mainland where lovers can enjoy quiet strolls along white, sandy beaches with only the sea breeze for company.

I hope the above list has inspired you to take a well-deserved romantic break with your loved one. We’d love to hear what you think of our top five. Do you have any other destinations you think we should have included?
