With lives being as hectic as they are these days, we often forget to treat ourselves and our partners to some special time together to get away from it all. If this sounds like you and your partner, and you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway that also includes some fun and adventure, then the Californian city of Costa Mesa could be the place for you. Costa Mesa has everything you could wish for in a weekend getaway, from great restaurants, to fun events, entertaining Broadway shows, plenty of shopping opportunities, and of course its very own beach.

Day one

To spoil your partner, why not start the first day of your weekend break with a sumptuous breakfast? At Old Vine Café you will be spoiled for choice in terms of good food, and you can also order some healthful dishes such as crepes with fresh berries. Of course, no romantic breakfast would be complete without a glass of bubbly to start your day in style.

After breakfast, you can visit one of the many shops around and treat your partner to a little gift to remind yourselves about your romantic trip. The Camp shopping center has numerous shops, and the nearby SoBeCa district is also filled with charming little boutiques.

If exercising your wallet isn’t enough for you, then you could also exercise your legs and take a romantic walk along the boardwalk of Newport Pier to get to know the neighborhood and the local community. Before you start off your evening you can grab another bite to eat at the Pizzeria Ortica and try out their prix-fixe theater menu, before heading to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts for an incredible Broadway show. Alternatively, maybe you want to enjoy listening to some classical music, or even watching a circus-style performance. Every year the performances vary, and you can time your visit with the show of your choice. You just need to have a look at their events calendar online. Whatever you choose to watch, it will almost certainly be a show not to forget.

After the show you can head to one of the many bars for an after-show cocktail. At the Red Bar & Lounge you can order artisan-crafted cocktails, local and international brews, and a menu of tasty bites if you feel like having another snack.

Day two

On your second day, you are bound to be tired after such an eventful first day, so why not just relax by the beach? If you are feeling very active you could even go surfing, kayaking or swimming together. Alternatively, you could go on a romantic whale-watching trip, which can easily be arranged locally. Watching these majestic creatures up close will be an unforgettable experience for you and your partner to treasure.

As you can see, Costa Mesa has plenty of romantic things to do over a weekend. So why not book a room in one of the many romantic hotels in Costa Mesa, and enjoy that well-deserved break you have been dreaming of for such a long time?
