As you may have seen in our previous post, ever since Chris and I lived in Colombia we have become big fans of dancing. The good news is, this has given us a further reason to travel and it’s also the perfect way to get to know people when we do.

I am currently performing in two dance groups, LDU (Bachata) and Equal Dance United (Ballroom). With EDU we have been performing across various events in London and with LDU we have recently performed at a Bachata festival in Croatia as well as in clubs across London, and we are looking forward to performing across the UK in the Autumn.

Chris has also been dancing his preferred dance, tango, in a variety of places recently including Berlin, Bogotá, Johannesburg, London and Washington D.C.

We are also both very excited to be competing in Dubrovnik for the Pro-Am dance competition ‘Dance for the Thrones’ which takes place at King’s Landing – for all those Games of Thrones fans out there!

Pro-Am (Professional/Amateur) is a competition format where amateurs, usually dance students, perform with professionals, often their teachers. I will be competing in Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Rumba, Jive and Viennese Waltz with my teacher, Armand, from Equal Dance.

Chris will be competing in Argentine tango with his teacher, Sophia, under the expert tuition of her partner, Julio.

Bearing in mind Armand is an international ballroom dance champion and Sophia and Julio are German tango champions, European milonga champions and they recently made it to the 2019 tango World Championship final, we are both a little nervous. But more on that very soon.

In the meantime, have you ever found yourself dancing on your travels? If so, we’d love to hear about it!
